EasyJet orders an additional 17 A320neos.
EasyJet has placed an order to Airbus for an additional 17 A320neos.This brings their total order for A320neos as well as A321neos to 147 aircraft.This order has come after and may have a connection to EasyJet’s profit growth thisyear. The low-cost carrier reported a 43% increase in profits.
EasyJet is currently operating a fleet of 316 A320 family aircraft. 20 of which belong to the neo family.
“This repeat order cements easyJet’s position as the largest European operator of our leading A320 family, we are delighted that our aircraft keep contributing to easyJet’s ongoing success.” says Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer.
The new aircraft is fitted with 186 seats in a single class cabin. The neo variants of the aircraft has many new generation features and changes. The biggest of which are the new engines. The aircraft is fitted with Leap CFM engines. The neo’s wing has been changed as well, new sharklets have been added to the wings for cost reduction. These new features as well as many other new generation technologies help to make the A320neo family 15% more fuel efficient.
The aircraft has a 50% noise reduction as well helping to make life quieter for those on the ground.
EasyJet is currently serving more than 130 countries throughout Europe and operates over 1000 routes.
The new A320neos should be delivered in 2023 to help EasyJet with further growth plans.
