Airbus ACJ320neo completes its first flight

The new Airbus ACJ320neo has completed its maiden flight to start off the new aircraft’s testing program. The Aircraft flew for 2 hours and 40 minutes on a flight from Hamburg, Germany.

The aircraft features many new and improved features that have been based on the Airbus A320neo family. The new ACJ version of the jet holds features such as larger fuel tanks taking up the unused space in the cargo hold as well as better cabin pressurization.

Airbus are required to test these features before they move on to the next step for the aircraft, which is fitting out the cabin to a business and private jet standard as well as repainting.

“The ACJ320neo first flight heralds a new Airbus corporate jet era, delivering a range improvement that enables nonstop travel between even more cities, in what is widely recognised as the best cabin of any business jet. The ACJ320neo Family’s improved fuel-efficiency also means that it compares even more favourably in operating costs with traditional business-jets,” said Airbus’ ACJ President, Benoit Defforge.

The new aircraft will feature other notable characteristics of the A320neo such as the new engines and the neo’s sharklets.

Airbus has also introduced the ACJ319neo which should be able to fly intercontinentally for over 15 hours, flying 6,750 nm/12,500 km meanwhile carrying 8 passengers. The ACJ320neo should be able to fly for 6,000 nm/11,100 km for over 13 hours while carrying 25 passengers.

Airbus is also now offering more ACJ models for longer distances in a widebody configuration while also more passengers. Such as the ACJ330 or ACJ350 obviously being based on Airbus’s a330 and a350. These aircraft were designed to fly extreme long ranges non-stop.

Airbus has taken a new step in giving themselves a solid standing in the business jet market.
